Thelima Polyclinic Clinic website design for Kochi, a concept build
Thelima Polyclinic, a multi-specialty outpatient clinic in Kadavanthra, Kochi, was created for this concept, and every doctor listed on it is invented. Its homepage is written for families choosing where to see a doctor and for sons and daughters in the Gulf who book for parents back home. Behind it sits one timetable that drives the OP board, the doctor cards, the open-now lines and the appointment request form, all in Kochi time, with Malayalam beside the English.
A concept build: Thelima Polyclinic is a fictional brand we created to show how we design and build a clinic website for Kochi. It is not a client and not a real company; our client work is on the work page.
The complete homepage, live
Both frames run the real site. Scroll inside them, try the session finder: choose a department and one of the next seven days, switch between morning and evening, and any session becomes a pre-filled appointment request, or open it in a new tab.
How we designed a clinic website for Kochi
Who is in today, first
Most calls to a neighbourhood clinic in Kochi ask one thing: who is in today, and from what time. So the page opens with today's hours for the OP, lab, pharmacy and X-ray, then one weekly board for all ten departments, every status read in Kochi time. A son checking from Dubai late at night sees the same answer as a patient in Kadavanthra.
The colours of a clinic wall
The colours come from a lime-washed clinic wall, with solid indigo for the board header and the call to action, and soft clay for today's column and the department letters. Albert Sans sets the English, and Manjari, a rounded Malayalam face, sits beside it for headings, timings and short notes.
Letters instead of portraits
Each department has a large clay letter from A to J, and every doctor card carries that letter instead of a photograph, so the directory reads as names, departments and OP hours rather than an advertisement. Where a real clinic lists qualifications, registration numbers and insurers, the page keeps clearly labelled empty slots. It also says plainly that an outpatient clinic is not an emergency hospital, and that in an emergency people should call 112.
Malayalam can lead
Malayalam sits next to the English for headings, timings and notes, and one tap lets it lead for older patients. A front desk section greets visitors in Malayalam, English, Hindi, Tamil and Bengali, for the many migrant workers who live in Kochi, and notes that one of the team reads Arabic reports. Families back from the Gulf are asked to bring those reports so the doctor can continue from there.

Features and interactions
- Session finder: choose a department and one of the next seven days, switch between morning and evening, and any session becomes a pre-filled appointment request
- Live open or closed status in the header, the today strip, the lab, pharmacy and imaging blocks and the call to action, all read in Kochi time from one timetable
- Weekly OP board with today's column highlighted and department filters, which becomes a day picker on phones
- Appointment request form that lists only that department's doctors, greys out days with no OP, handles booking for someone else and never pre-ticks the consent box; it shows the consultation fee and a what-to-bring list for the chosen department, and the demo never sends it
- Doctor cards whose OP hours come from the same timetable, each with a button that pre-fills the form with that doctor
- What-to-bring list for a first OP visit, from photo ID to the medicine strips, in English and Malayalam, counting how many of the seven are ready as you tick and keeping the ticks on your own device
- Language toggle that lets Malayalam lead the English in timings and notes, remembered in your browser

Questions
What do patients in Kochi look for on a clinic website?
Every department with what it usually sees, each doctor's OP days and hours, and the opening times of the lab, pharmacy and imaging. Consultation fees, what to bring on a first visit, directions and parking help patients decide before they leave home. The site should also say clearly what the clinic does not handle, and where to go in an emergency.
Should a clinic website in Kerala be in Malayalam as well as English?
Malayalam beside the English for headings, timings and short notes helps older patients, while adult children booking for a parent often read in English. A switch that lets either language lead keeps both visible without doubling the page. Clinics that see migrant workers or patients back from the Gulf can also say which languages the front desk speaks.
How should appointment booking work on a clinic website?
For most outpatient clinics, a request that the front desk confirms by phone or WhatsApp works better than a fixed online slot, because doctors' OP times can change. The form should offer only the days when the chosen department has an OP, ask for as little as it needs, and never tick the consent box for the patient. Showing the consultation fee and what to bring once a slot is chosen saves a phone call.
