Ilanchira College of Arts and Science College website design for Kochi, a concept build
Our concept for Ilanchira College of Arts and Science, a fictional arts and science college in Thrikkakara, Kochi, is a complete homepage for students choosing a degree and the parents who pay for it. The college is fictional. The page is not: its programme index filters and searches, its admissions timeline reads today's date, its fee table switches to the whole course and its documents checklist remembers your ticks.
A concept build: Ilanchira College of Arts and Science is a fictional brand we created to show how we design and build a college website for Kochi. It is not a client and not a real company; our client work is on the work page.
The complete homepage, live
Both frames run the real site. Scroll inside them, try the programme index of 18 programmes, filtered by level and stream and searchable as you type, with each row opening to what you study and where it leads, or open it in a new tab.
How we designed a college website for Kochi
Monsoon greens and brass
Deep pond greens, aged brass and a laterite red saved for deadlines come from a Kerala campus in the monsoon. Fraunces, with its old-press feel, sets the headlines over Hanken Grotesk for reading. Short Malayalam labels such as പ്രവേശനം (admissions) sit above the English section titles.
A prospectus on a phone
Families in Kochi tend to compare colleges programme by programme, and much of that happens on a phone. All 18 programmes sit in one index with stream, duration, seats and annual fee on each row, and each opens to show what you study and where it leads. A level switch, stream filters and a search box narrow the list as you type.
Every date, every fee
Admissions in Kerala turn on a handful of dates, so the timeline marks each step as upcoming, open now or closed from today's date, and the call to action counts the days until applications open. The fee table switches between per year and the whole course, and a side panel lists every other charge, from the caution deposit to the hostel.
Space for the affiliation
A real college shows its university affiliation, approvals and accreditation, so the page keeps a panel for them and leaves it empty rather than borrowing a real university's name. There are no rankings, results or testimonials anywhere, and the map of Kochi is drawn in SVG rather than embedded.

Questions
What should an arts and science college website in Kochi include?
Every programme with its stream, duration, seats and fee, and a short note on what students study and where it leads. The admissions dates, eligibility and the documents to keep ready should be on the same site, along with the full fee structure, scholarships and the university affiliation. Students should be able to ask a question or plan a campus visit from any part of the page, without hunting for a phone number.
What do parents and students in Kerala look for on a college website?
Parents look first for fees, hostel and safety details, and whether there is any donation or capitation fee. Students look for the programmes, the campus, clubs and what graduates go on to do. Both want the admission dates and rank list dates in one place, so they do not have to wait for a notice board or a phone call.
How should a college website in Kerala handle notices?
As dated web pages that can be searched and filtered by type, such as admissions, exams, events and scholarships, rather than scanned PDFs pinned to the home page. Admission notices and rank list dates should also show on the admissions timeline, so a student does not have to check two places. Notices whose date has passed can move to an archive.
