Websites for car rental and leasing

The full price, before the keys. Car rental website design for Gulf and Kerala firms

Marketlube designs and builds websites for self-drive rental, monthly leasing and chauffeur firms in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the wider Gulf and Kerala, from Calicut, with no office in the Gulf. A rental site we build answers the renter's money questions on the page: a live quote with tax, delivery and cover, the deposit by car class and when it comes back, the documents each kind of renter needs, and a checkout on the card scheme your renters use. We have not yet built a site for a real rental firm, so the three samples here are concept builds for fictional brands.

  • The Leyl homepage on a desktop screen, a concept build by Marketlube (Leyl is a fictional brand)

Concept build · Leyl, a car rental website for Dubai

  • The Rawahil homepage on a desktop screen, a concept build by Marketlube (Rawahil is a fictional brand)

Concept build · Rawahil, a car rental website for Riyadh

  • The Sanbouk homepage on a phone, a concept build by Marketlube (Sanbouk is a fictional brand)

Concept build · Sanbouk on a phone

Concept builds: Leyl and Rawahil

Renters compare totals, not cars.

A renter in Dubai, Riyadh or Kuwait City usually has three or four rental firms open in other tabs. The cars look much the same; what differs is whether the page says what the week will cost with tax, delivery and full cover, how much is blocked on the card, and whether a visitor's home licence is enough. When a site leaves those answers to the agreement or to a WhatsApp chat, the renter moves on to the next tab.

So we design a rental site around the quote. The rate card, the kilometre allowance, delivery fees by area, cover levels and the deposit for each class go into one set of rules, written down and signed off by you, and the quote card, the fleet prices and the monthly calculator all read from it. A price on the fleet rail can then never disagree with the total in the booking step.

One honest note before the samples. Marketlube has not built a website for a real car rental or leasing firm. Leyl, Rawahil and Sanbouk are concept builds: working homepages we coded for fictional firms in Dubai, Riyadh and Kuwait City, with made-up fleets and prices. They show how each feature behaves on your phone, and nothing about bookings or results. Nothing on this page is legal or tax advice.

What a rental website has to answer.

  • Show the whole price before anyone books

With VAT inside it in the UAE and no charge added at the contract.

What we build: A live quote card in the hero that adds up the car, the dates, delivery and collection, the cover level and tax, using your own rate bands.

    What you get (4)
    • A total that updates as the class, dates, area or handover changes
    • A rate ladder that shows when the daily, weekly or monthly band applies
    • Tax shown inside the price where the market requires it, and the card deposit shown separately
    • The quote passed into the booking form or a WhatsApp message, word for word

Source: Habib Al Mulla, VAT-inclusive displayed prices, read 28 Oct 2026

  • Explain the security deposit

A hold on the card, how much for each class and how long until it is released.

What we build: A deposit and cover section that sets the hold for each class beside the excess for each cover level, with the release period in plain days.

    What you get (4)
    • Deposit amounts by car class, edited in one place
    • A side-by-side cover table that turns into swipeable cards on a phone
    • A no-deposit option priced per day, if you offer one
    • The release period stated once and repeated in the booking confirmation

Source: Gulf News, How can tourists rent a car in the UAE, read 28 Oct 2026

  • Papers for citizens, residents, visitors and companies

Tell each of them exactly which papers to bring, so bookings do not fall over at handover.

What we build: Requirement tabs by renter type, each with its documents, the minimum age, the licence rule and the card needed for the deposit.

    What you get (4)
    • Separate lists for citizens, residents, visitors and companies
    • The recognised-country and International Driving Permit rule kept in one editable list
    • A licence check button that sends a photo to your team on WhatsApp
    • Upload fields for ID and licence after booking, not before the quote

Source: Gulf News, How can tourists rent a car in the UAE, read 28 Oct 2026

  • Sell monthly rental and long-term leasing

Residents and companies compare what a month costs and what it covers.

What we build: A lease calculator for term, kilometre band, extras and number of cars, beside a plain list of what the monthly price includes.

    What you get (4)
    • Monthly price, term total and deposit as the visitor chooses
    • Servicing, insurance, registration, roadside help and a replacement car listed beside the price
    • A fleet quote form for companies that asks for the classes, the count and the term
    • The calculator's choice written into the enquiry your fleet desk receives
  • Spell out tolls, traffic fines and their handling fees

Before the renter drives, since they arrive weeks after the car is back.

What we build: A tolls and fines section with a worked example, and an itemised final invoice layout that lists every toll gate crossing.

    What you get (4)
    • How each toll is charged, with your handling fee per crossing in plain numbers
    • One worked example the renter can check against their own trips
    • How fines are passed on, with the reference shown so the renter can verify it
    • Toll rates kept in one editable place, so a tariff change is a single edit

  • In Saudi Arabia, take the booking online

The rental contract itself is issued through the Transport General Authority's electronic system.

What we build: A booking flow that confirms the car, branch and price, then tells the renter the official electronic contract comes next and what to bring for it.

    What you get (3)
    • Price, kilometres included and deposit in riyals on every car card, matching what the renter signs
    • A booking confirmation that names the contract step instead of imitating it
    • A booking record shaped for your rental software, ready for the link if your system supports it

  • Take payment on the card schemes renters carry

mada in Saudi Arabia, KNET in Kuwait, cards and wallets across the Gulf.

What we build: A checkout on your licensed gateway's hosted page or redirect, with a clear return to a confirmation, and deposit holds tested before launch.

    What you get (4)
    • mada shown first on Saudi checkouts, with Apple Pay where your gateway offers it
    • The KNET redirect and return handled for Kuwaiti debit cards
    • Card details kept on the gateway's page, never on your website's server
    • A written check of which methods can hold a deposit and which can only take a payment

Source: Tap Payments developer docs, KNET, read 28 Oct 2026

  • Bring the car to the renter's door or the airport

And let them book it one-handed on a phone.

What we build: Delivery areas with fees and arrival times on a drawn map, and a slim booking bar that keeps the current quote one tap away on phones.

    What you get (4)
    • A delivery table by area, district or governorate, with fees and times
    • An SVG map that highlights each area, with a text version for screen readers
    • Airport and branch pickup as choices in the quote card
    • A sticky booking bar on phones once the quote card scrolls out of view

Three rental sites you can try, all concept builds.

Leyl, Rawahil and Sanbouk are concept builds: working homepages we designed and built for fictional brands, so you can try the layouts and their tools on your phone before we build yours. None of them is a client. See every concept build.

The pages a rental site usually needs.

  1. Home with the quote cardThe total in the first screen: class, dates, area and handover in, price with tax and deposit out, then the fleet and the three questions renters ask most.
  2. Fleet by classEconomy to luxury and vans, each with seats, bags, transmission and the daily, weekly and monthly price, sold as "or similar" when you cannot promise an exact model.
  3. A page for each car classPhotos, what the class suits, the deposit and cover options for it, and a quote card already set to that class, so a search for an SUV rental lands on the SUV.
  4. Prices and rate bandsThe full rate table with the kilometre allowance, extra-kilometre charges and when weekly and monthly rates start, sharing one switch with the fleet prices.
  5. Monthly rental and leasingThe lease calculator, terms from one month upwards, and what servicing, insurance, registration and replacement cars the monthly price covers.
  6. Company fleetsTerms for businesses, the smallest fleet you lease, replacement times, usage and fines reports for the admin team, and a fleet quote form.
  7. Delivery, airport and branchesAreas with fees and times, airport handover, branch hours and a map, with the branch choice feeding straight into the quote.
  8. What you need to rentTabs for citizens, residents, visitors and companies, the age and licence rules, and the card needed for the deposit.
  9. Deposit, cover and excessThe hold for each class, the release period, cover levels side by side with their excess, and what happens after a scratch or an accident.
  10. Tolls, fines and fuelHow tolls and fines are passed on and at what fee, the fuel policy, and a worked example renters can check against their own invoice.
  11. Chauffeur serviceHourly, airport and full-day bookings with the vehicle type and passenger count, kept apart from self-drive so neither form gets crowded.
  12. FAQ and bookingAnswers to the questions your counter staff hear daily, then the booking form, a WhatsApp route with the quote attached, and your trade licence in the footer.

Rental rules change at every border.

  • United Arab Emirates

Prices shown to consumers carry the 5% VAT, and under the 2023 e-commerce law, delivery fees and payment charges have to be set out before payment; a fee not disclosed upfront cannot be added later. A quote that shows cover and every fee before payment also spares the renter a surprise at the counter. Dubai's tolls vary by hour: Salik's tariff from the end of January 2025 set AED 6 at weekday peaks, AED 4 off-peak and no charge from 1 am to 6 am, so a worked toll example on the site needs to say which hours it assumes. Our Leyl concept build, a car rental website for a fictional Dubai brand, shows the quote card, the delivery zone map and the toll example together.

  • Saudi Arabia

Rental contracts are electronic and run through the Transport General Authority's system: Zawya, carrying a Saudi Gazette report on TGA data, counted more than 1.6 million unified electronic rental contracts issued to individuals in the second quarter of 2026, up 4% on a year earlier. Prices on the site carry 15% VAT, and the Arabic version is built as its own right-to-left page, not a mirrored copy of the English one. Our Rawahil concept build, a rental and leasing website for a fictional Riyadh brand, is built in both languages, with Daily, Monthly and Chauffeur tabs and a leasing calculator for up to 50 cars.

Source: Zawya, Electronic car rental contracts jump 4% to 1.6mln in Q2 2026, read 28 Oct 2026

  • Kuwait

Kuwait has no VAT in force, so a Kuwaiti quote card shows no tax line but is built so one can be added. The dinar has three decimals, which matters for a lease calculator: KWD 125.500 a month must not round to two places. Kuwait's Decree-Law No. 10 of 2026 on digital commerce, as Kuwait Times reported it, allows only payment providers licensed by the Central Bank of Kuwait and needs the bank's approval before any fee for paying electronically. Our Sanbouk concept build, a leasing website for a fictional Kuwait City brand, shows a lease calculator in dinars and a delivery table by area.

  • Qatar, Bahrain and Oman

The tax line differs in each: Qatar has no VAT in force, Bahrain's standard rate has been 10% since January 2022, and Oman's has been 5% since April 2021. Bahraini and Omani prices, like Kuwaiti ones, run to three decimals. Payments differ too: Qatar's online card gateway is QPay on the NAPS network, Bahrain uses BENEFIT, and Oman has OmanNet debit cards. A rental site for more than one of these markets keeps the tax rate, currency and gateway per country rather than one set for the Gulf.

  • Kerala

In Kerala, only vehicles registered under the official Rent a Cab scheme may be rented for self-drive, and they carry black number plates with yellow lettering; Onmanorama, in August 2026, told renters to check for that plate before taking a car and called renting out a white-plate private car a grave offence. So a Kerala self-drive site shows the black plates in its fleet photos, says every car is registered under the scheme and carries the operator's licence details in the footer. If your renters include families home from the Gulf on leave, airport handover at Calicut, Kochi or Trivandrum and a rate for a four or six week stay belong beside the quote. We have no Kerala rental concept build yet; Leyl's quote card is the closest sample.

Figures are before GST in India and before VAT where it applies in the Gulf. The written quote for a rental site lists the quote and calculator rules, the booking flow, the payment gateway and how deposit holds work on it, the Arabic version and who writes it, and any link to your rental software or the Saudi contract system, which is what moves the price most.

What the build includes

  • A pricing rules sheet (rate bands, kilometres, delivery fees, cover, tax, deposits) signed off before design
  • A live quote card and a monthly or lease calculator that read from those rules
  • Fleet pages by class with daily, weekly and monthly prices from one switch
  • Requirement tabs by renter type and a deposit and cover comparison
  • Delivery areas with fees and times, branch pages and a drawn map
  • A booking form and WhatsApp route that carry the renter's quote
  • Your payment gateway connected in test mode, then live, with deposit holds tested
  • An Arabic right-to-left version where the market needs it, linked with hreflang
  • Analytics that count quotes started, quotes sent and bookings paid, so you can see where renters drop off

Not included

  • Rental management or fleet software: the site links to yours, it does not replace it
  • Linking bookings to the Saudi electronic contract system, which depends on your rental software and is quoted on its own
  • Gateway, merchant account and pay-later fees, which you contract with the provider
  • The rental agreement, insurance wording and licence terms, which your lawyer and insurer write
  • Paid ads and SEO retainers, which are separate services

See every price we publish

Five steps. No surprises.

Every stage has an owner, a deliverable and a sign-off, all agreed with you before it starts.

Book a discovery call
  1. Your rate card and your rules

A video call in your working hours. We ask for the rate card, the deposit for each class, the cover levels and excess, delivery areas and fees, who you rent to, which gateway you use and whether bookings must reach your rental software.

  2. The pricing rules, in writing

Before any design, we write how a quote is worked out: when the weekly and monthly bands start, extra kilometres, part days, delivery by area, cover, tax and the deposit. You sign it off, because the quote card must give the figure your counter would.

  3. Design for the phone first

We design the phone layout first, with the quote card, the requirement tabs and the cover table, and the Arabic layout alongside where you need it. Then you try a working quote card with your own rates loaded, on your phone, before the rest of the pages are designed.

  4. Build and test real rentals

We build the site and connect the gateway in test mode. Then we run a set of your past rentals through the quote card and compare each total with the invoice you issued, and fix every difference before launch.

  5. Launch and keep the rates current

We go live outside your busy season, never the week before Eid or a long weekend, and hand over the logins. Your desk edits rates, deposits, toll tariffs and the recognised-licence list itself; on the care plan we re-run the past-rental check whenever a tariff or tax rate changes.

What should a renter be able to work out from a rental site before booking?

The total for the chosen dates with tax, delivery and cover added up, the deposit held on the card and when it is released, the documents the renter needs, and the delivery areas with fees. Then the fleet by class with seats, bags and daily, weekly and monthly prices. Renters who find those answers on the page have less reason to try the next firm.

How should a rental website explain the security deposit?

As a hold on the card rather than a charge, with the amount for each car class and the number of days after return before it is released. Gulf News describes the UAE deposit as a blocked amount covering damage, fines and Salik tolls, released within a maximum of 30 days if there are no extra charges. Put the same release period in the booking confirmation.

Can visitors to the UAE rent a car on their home driving licence?

Many can. Gulf News says visitors from more than 30 recognised countries, such as the UK, the USA and Japan, can drive on their home licence with a valid tourist visa, GCC licences are accepted, and visitors from other countries need an International Driving Permit alongside their licence. It gives 21 as the usual minimum age. The country list changes, so check it with the authority before you publish it.

Can a Saudi car rental website issue the rental contract itself?

No. The Transport General Authority made the unified electronic contract, issued through its own portal, compulsory for car rental firms in phases by category, starting on 25 July 2021, as Argaam reported. The website takes the booking and the official contract follows. The site should say so on the booking page and list what the renter brings for the contract. How bookings reach the contract system depends on your rental software.

Which payment methods should a Gulf rental website accept?

The local scheme first: mada in Saudi Arabia, which Moyasar lists first among its methods, and KNET in Kuwait, which accepts dinars only and needs a redirect to its own payment page. Add Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay through your licensed gateway. Debit schemes and pay-later services may not support a deposit hold, so confirm with your gateway before promising one.

Should a car rental website show prices or ask for an enquiry?

Show them wherever your rates allow it. A renter who can see a total, a deposit and what cover costs arrives at the booking already decided on a class, and a firm that publishes prices has fewer one-line WhatsApp questions to answer. For long leases or company fleets, show a monthly figure for each class and send the detailed quote by form.

Can a self-drive firm in Kerala list any car on its website?

Only cars registered for self-drive rental. Onmanorama reported in August 2026 that only vehicles under the official Rent a Cab scheme, which carry black number plates with yellow lettering, may be rented out for self-drive in Kerala. A website listing a private white-plate car for self-drive would be advertising a car that should not be rented. Check the current rules with your transport office.
