A Kerala bridal set is rarely a single purchase. It is a family decision made over months, often split between a showroom in Thrissur or Kozhikode and relatives in Dubai or Doha, and it lands in a handful of crowded peaks every year. That is why marketing for jewellery showrooms is won weeks before the rush. The jewellers who win those peaks are rarely the ones with the biggest last-minute budget; they are the ones the family already trusted before the wedding date was fixed.
This playbook covers the calendar, a 12-week campaign plan, the content that sells bridal pieces and how to tell which campaign brought in the family that bought. It is written for showrooms in Kerala and for Indian jewellers selling in the UAE, and it follows our usual order of priorities: film first, WhatsApp second, discounts last. Budget figures are planning ranges, not promises.
When is wedding season for Kerala and Gulf jewellery buyers?#
Kerala doesn't have one wedding season. It has several overlapping peaks, shaped by the Malayalam calendar, church and school calendars, and the months when Gulf families fly home.
Treat the table as a starting map, not a fixed rule. Muhurtham dates vary by community, by region and by family astrologer, so ask your bridal consultants which months their customers are booking and plan against that.
How early should a jewellery wedding campaign start?#
Families shortlist two or three showrooms weeks before they visit any of them. Ad prices also tend to rise near festivals, because every jeweller and every retailer is bidding for the same audience at once. A campaign that starts ten days before the peak pays the highest prices to reach families who have mostly decided.
Work backwards from the peak you care about most:
For the December–February season, that means shooting in September and October and going live with pre-launch campaigns by early November.
What content actually sells bridal jewellery?#
Bridal buyers want to see three things before they visit: the craft, the price logic and proof they can trust you. Each format below does one of those jobs.
The film is the anchor. A necklace that looks stunning under showroom lights can look flat on a phone, so it has to be lit and shot for a 9:16 screen. It is worth planning bridal and product films as one shoot that yields a hero film, 15-second and 6-second cutdowns, catalogue stills and lifestyle frames, rather than paying for four separate sessions.
How do you run a bridal collection launch?#
A launch gives the season a story. Without one, every post is just another necklace close-up in a feed full of them.
- Give the collection one name and one idea. Temple architecture, a Kasavu border, a family heirloom reworked: pick something real that your designers actually drew on, and use it in every asset.
- Shoot once, cut many. Plan every format you'll need before the shoot day so nothing has to be reshot.
- Sell the viewing, not the necklace. Click-to-WhatsApp ads should invite families to book a private bridal viewing. The booking is the conversion. Our Click-to-WhatsApp ads guide covers setup and what happens after the chat opens.
- Hold a launch event for booked families. A trunk show or preview evening for families who already booked, streamed live for relatives who can't be there.
- Borrow trust from people brides already follow. Bridal make-up artists and wedding photographers reach engaged women months before the wedding. In the UAE, check that any creator you pay holds the UAE Media Council's advertiser permit before you sign.
- Retarget with the exact pieces. Anyone who watched most of the film or opened a chat should next see the sets they looked at, not a generic brand ad.
- Follow up within the day. After a viewing, send the pieces they tried on over WhatsApp, offer to hold a design for an agreed period, and offer a video call for relatives abroad.
How do you reach NRI families in the Gulf?#
In many Kerala families, the bride is in Kozhikode and the person paying is in Riyadh. Campaigns that only target women aged 22 to 30 in Kerala miss half the decision.
- Target the relatives. Reach Malayalam speakers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain with creative in Malayalam, and let the ad say plainly that you can show designs over a video call.
- Mind the clock. The UAE and Oman are an hour and a half behind India; Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain are two and a half hours behind. Schedule ads and staff cover for Gulf evenings and weekends.
- Put the numbers in writing. A relative approving a purchase from Doha wants weight, karat, stone details, making charges and the day's rate in one message, not a phone call they can't forward.
- Time the push for the trips home. The December holidays and the Gulf summer break are when families shop in person, so your Gulf campaigns should be running a few weeks before those flights.
For showrooms in the UAE the flow runs the other way: Indian expat families in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi buying around the Dubai Shopping Festival (usually December to January), Diwali, Akshaya Tritiya and Eid. Our marketing for brands in Dubai and the UAE covers AED budgets and the Gulf calendar in more detail.
What should a jeweller budget for wedding season?#
As a typical 2026 planning range (confirm with quotes), a single-showroom jeweller in Kerala might spend ₹75,000–₹2 lakh a month on media, rising around the biggest peaks. UAE showrooms usually plan from about AED 10,000 a month per branch. Production is a separate line: a well-planned bridal shoot is a one-off cost that feeds the whole season.
Here is a starting split to test, not a formula. Move money towards whichever channel delivers the lowest cost per kept appointment after the first two or three weeks.
A planning framework to test, not benchmark data.
What rules apply to jewellery advertising in India and the UAE?#
This is not legal advice, but these points come up in every jewellery campaign we plan:
- Hallmarking is mandatory across Kerala. BIS made hallmarking compulsory in phases from June 2021; its district-by-district list (opens in a new tab) shows 13 Kerala districts in the first phase and Idukki added in November 2024. Only feature pieces that carry a valid HUID, and state the karat (22K, or 916) accurately.
- Say what buyers can check. BIS's consumer FAQ (opens in a new tab) explains that buyers can verify a HUID in the BIS Care app, and that if a hallmarked piece falls short of its stated purity, the rules set compensation at twice the value of the shortfall plus testing charges. Confident jewellers can say this out loud.
- Make offers exact. "Zero making charges" or "lowest price" claims need their conditions visible in the ad itself. India's advertising code (ASCI) and the consumer protection authority's guidelines on misleading advertisements both apply.
- Date-stamp gold rates. Never hard-code a price into a long-running ad. Post the day's board rate with the date, and build offers around making charges, exchange and savings schemes, which hold up when the rate moves.
- In the UAE, show AED prices including VAT, state the karat, and check creator permits before any paid collaboration goes live.
How do you know which campaign sold the bridal set?#
Almost every bridal sale closes at the counter, so ad platforms only ever see clicks and chats. Unless you connect the two, the loudest channel gets the credit.
- Give every booking a source. Click-to-WhatsApp chats carry the ad they came from; landing pages use tagged links; print and outdoor get their own number or QR code.
- Log the visit and the bill against the booking. A WhatsApp CRM records who booked, who showed up and what they bought, without staff typing it twice.
- Send outcomes back to the ad platforms. Meta and Google both accept offline conversion data, so campaigns learn which chats turned into buyers rather than which ones typed "price?".
- Watch three numbers weekly: first-reply time on WhatsApp (we plan for under ten minutes), the share of enquiries that book and keep a viewing, and revenue per kept viewing by source.
Frequently asked questions#
When should a Kerala jeweller start wedding-season marketing?#
Eight to twelve weeks before the peak you are targeting. For weddings between December and February, shoot in September or October and launch pre-booking campaigns by early November. For Chingam weddings, be live by early July.
Should jewellery ads show gold prices?#
Only in content that is updated daily, such as a gold-rate post with the date on it. Long-running ads should promote things that don't change with the rate: making-charge offers, old-gold exchange, savings schemes and private viewings.
Are Instagram or Google ads better for jewellery?#
They do different jobs. Instagram and Facebook create demand and book viewings through WhatsApp; Google Search and Maps catch families who are already looking for a showroom near them. Most jewellers need both, weighted towards Meta during the build-up and towards Search close to the peak.
How do we market to NRI families in the Gulf?#
Target Malayalam speakers in the GCC with creative that offers video-call viewings, schedule for Gulf evenings, and send weight, karat and price details in writing so relatives can approve from abroad. Time the push for the weeks before families fly home in December and in the summer.
Do we need a website if most sales close in the showroom?#
Yes, but its job is to sell the visit. Collection pages, a daily gold-rate page, branch details and a booking button do more for a showroom than a full online store. Lightweight and gifting lines can be sold online if you want to test it.
Plan the next peak now#
If your bridal marketing starts when the rush does, the families who planned ahead have already chosen someone else. Pick your next peak, count back twelve weeks and book the shoot.
