The academy

A virtual madrasa, and an Instagram almost nobody saw.

TasHeel International Moral Academy teaches Quran recitation, memorisation and tajweed, Arabic and Islamic studies online, one-to-one or in groups. It teaches in Malayalam as well as English, so its audience is Malayali families in Kerala and abroad; a 2025 poster even advertised a European batch.

Our team reports the account at about 300 followers when we started. The public record fits a small audience: the three course posters pinned in February 2025 still have three likes each.

  • Quran, madrasa, Arabic foundation and Islamic lifestyle batches
  • One-to-one and group classes, plus weekend batches
  • About 300 followers at the start, as our team reports it

The strategy

Reels first, in the language the audience thinks in.

We set the strategy for the academy's marketing, and on Instagram it came down to one idea. A poster tells people a course exists; it rarely makes anyone follow. So reels sit at the centre, in Malayalam, and each one gives people a reason to come back: a story worth finishing or a talk worth sharing.

Four pillars carry the feed: stories from Islamic history told like short films, a presenter explaining faith and character in plain Malayalam, branded posters for courses and festivals, and story highlights that make followers feel part of the academy.

  • Islamic-history story reels with bold Malayalam captions
  • Presenter-led talks from a studio set
  • Course and festival posters in the academy's navy and gold
  • Highlights for updates, quizzes, best performers and values

The reels

Stories from Islamic history, told in under a minute.

The reels that travel furthest retell stories from Islamic history in Malayalam: the Prophet returning the key of the Kaaba, Abu Bakr, Mus'ab ibn Umair, the drought of Makkah, the believing beautician in Pharaoh's palace. Each opens on a painterly scene and one bold Malayalam line. The painterly visuals are AI-generated; Instagram labels the most-liked one as AI content.

Videos were part of our work, as our team reports. We shot and edited presenter reels for the academy, filmed for real on a studio set with coloured light and moving Malayalam captions.

Results

39,064 followers, and a reel liked more times than that.

On 29 Sep 2026 Instagram's public profile data showed 39,064 followers for @tasheelmoralacademy, which Instagram rounds to 39K, and Social Blade showed the same count that morning. No public archive holds the account's early follower count, so the starting figure of about 300 is our team's.

The public like counts show which posts travelled. One story reel, posted on 2 April 2026, had 52,742 likes and 444 comments, more likes than the account has followers, so it was seen well beyond them. Other story reels from December 2025 to March 2026 drew 828 to 1,930 likes each; static posters and greetings drew 3 to 11.

For the next academy

What we'd tell another online academy.

Teach before you sell. People follow an academy for what it gives them for free: a story worth finishing, a talk worth sharing. When the next batch opens, those followers are the first to hear.

Speak the language your families think in, put a real person on camera, and keep enrolment one step away: course reels that point to a batch with open seats, and highlights that answer a parent's questions before they message.

No public archive holds the account's history, so the starting count of about 300 and the growth being organic are reported by our team. The scope of our work (strategy, marketing, social media management, content, videos, ads and business setup) is as reported by our team too. We don't publish ad spend, enquiry or enrolment numbers, and the academy's own student counts are its figures, not our results.
