The year at Fazayah

One coast. Three seasons.

The Dhofar coast changes more in a year than most of Arabia. Pick a season and the whole page follows it: photos, captions and room rates.

A quiet road winding through rounded Dhofar hills with grass turning from green to gold, scattered trees and a calm blue sea in the distance
Sarb: the cloud lifts and the green turns to gold.

Sarb · late September to November

The quiet after the monsoon

The weeks after the monsoon, when the cloud lifts and the visitors leave. Quiet beaches, the green fading slowly to gold, the calmest prices of the year outside early summer.

Rooms from OMR 46 a night. One-night stays welcome.

Early summer (April to 20 June) is hot and humid on the coast and our rates are at their lowest, from OMR 38.

Khareef, explained

What the Khareef is really like

Every summer the monsoon wind off the Arabian Sea brings cloud, mist and drizzle to the Dhofar coast. While most of the Gulf sits in the forties, Salalah stays cool and the hills turn green. It is the reason most of our guests come, so here is the honest version.

  1. When

The season is counted from 21 June to 21 September.

Source: Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, news release, 13 Feb 2025.

  2. Temperature

Milder temperatures of about 20°C to 28°C.

Source: Experience Oman, Weather page, accessed 28 Oct 2026.

  3. Sky

Cloudy and rainy weather with moderate temperatures, cooler again in the mist-covered mountain areas.

Source: Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, 13 Feb 2025.

  4. What it means for your stay

The sea is rough and swimming is off in Khareef; the pool is open. The hill roads are slow in fog, so our drivers allow extra time. Bring a light jacket for the hills and shoes you do not mind getting muddy.

Our own practice at Fazayah, not a climate claim.

Families

For families who travel together

Most of our guests come as three generations. We built for that: connecting rooms with an inside door, single-level villas with no steps for grandparents, cots and high chairs that are already there, and quiet hours after 22:00 so little ones sleep.

  1. Connecting rooms: four pairs, held for families first.

  2. Villas on one level, with a walled courtyard where children can play in sight.

  3. Children under 12 eat from the children's menu at half price.

  4. A shaded pool with a fenced shallow end and a lifeguard from 9:00 to 18:00.

  5. A family prayer room and separate majlis seating for women and for men in the main house.
